About this collection
About Wood Carved Statues and Crucifixes
Carved wood has a warmth that suits both traditional and simpler churches. This collection presents custom wood carved statues made to order: the Madonna and Child, Our Lady of Sorrows, St Joseph the Worker and other saints, along with carved corpus figures for your own cross and complete wood crucifixes.
Most statues are offered in standard heights of 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 inches, and each one is carved for the parish that orders it. Ask about finish options when you request a quote.
How to order

Wood Carved Statues and Crucifixes
In the Sacred Liturgy
Sacred statues have a long and honored place in Catholic churches and homes. They are not worshipped for themselves; they turn our hearts to the person they represent and remind us of the communion of saints, the family of God in heaven and on earth. Before a statue, the faithful pause to pray, light a candle or leave flowers.
Wood carving is one of the oldest traditions of sacred art. Woods such as linden, also called lime wood, are favored because they carve cleanly and hold fine detail, allowing the sculptor to give a face gentleness and a garment graceful folds. A carved statue may be left in natural wood, stained, or painted and gilded in rich colors.
Wood statues are lighter than stone or bronze, which makes them well suited to niches, side altars, shrines and homes. Cared for and kept indoors, a carved statue can become a treasured heirloom of prayer for generations.
