About this collection
About Marble Statues
Marble gives a statue permanence and a quiet light. This collection offers carved marble statues for churches, chapels and shrines: Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Sorrows, the Assumption, St Patrick, St Peter, St Mark, St Francis, pairs of adoring angels, a holy water angel, a marble mosaic relief and life-size figures. Many stand about six feet tall.
Several pieces were carved for a particular parish or school and show what can be commissioned, and many designs can be carved to your size.
How to buy
Nearly every marble statue is priced on request, because cost depends on size, detail and the stone chosen. Measure the space, consider the weight and how the statue will be set, and plan any pedestal at the same time. Call or request a quote for pricing and availability. Freight is billed separately. You may also want to see bronze statues and statue pedestals.
Marble Statues
In the Sacred Liturgy
Sacred statues have always had a place of honor in Catholic churches: at side altars, in shrines and niches, where the faithful stop to pray and light a candle. A statue is not worshipped for itself. It lifts our hearts to the one it depicts and reminds us that the saints are alive in Christ and pray for us.
Marble has been prized for sacred sculpture since antiquity. Its fine grain allows the carver to bring out delicate detail: the folds of a garment, the expression of a face, the gesture of a hand. Its luminous surface gives a statue a quiet radiance. Marble statues may be left pure white or finished with painted and gilded details.
A well-carved marble statue can last for centuries. It can serve a parish indoors or, in a suitable climate, outdoors in a garden or courtyard, and it becomes a lasting witness to the faith of the community that placed it there.
